Almostadoctor.com is looking for enthusiastic students to become almostadoctor.com reps around the UK.
To help recruit volunteers, we have loads of free pastest goodies (textbooks, online subscriptions etc) to give away!
If you are interested in becoming a rep, please read on...
Why should I be a rep?
- 1. You get to put on your CV that you have worked for one of the most exciting, rapidly evolving and widely used medical student websites in the UK
- 2. You will be able to interact with your peers in new and exciting ways
- 3. You can get free stuff! – by getting people at your university to use the site, you can earn rewards (e.g. pastest books and online subscriptions)
What do we get out of it?
- 1. The more students use almostadoctor.com, the more ‘kudos’ we get!
- This means we can also charge more money for advertising. The site is never going to make us millionaires. In fact, the money we make goes straight back into the site, for example providing publicity materials (flyers, posters, stickers etc), and paying for our hosting costs.
- It also means that in the future, we might be able to run ‘live’ almostadoctor.com revision events, using our vast swamp of students to call upon!
- 2. It makes us feel warm and fuzzy inside
What do other medical students get out of it?
- They get to use our materials for free. Hopefully it means they can do more studying in less time. So they can then become better doctors. Or maybe just spend more time at the pub. Whatever makes them happy.
What does being an almostadoctor.com rep involve?
- As a rep, your role is to increase awareness about almostadoctor.com, let students know about all the latest developments on the site, and feedback to the almostadoctor.com head office on how the site is being used, and how it can be improved
- You can do as much or as little as you like, but the more you do, the more likely you are to get free pastest goodies. The kind of things we would like you to do are:
o Post messages on online notice boards / send emails to students
o Put up posters for almostadoctor.com
o Hand out business cards / flyers for almostadoctor.com – e.g. put these on seats before lectures, hand them out as students are leaving lectures
o Publicise almostadoctor.com at medics events – for example, hand out stickers, and take photos, to be uploaded (and tagged!) afterwards at pubcrawls, partys etc. Our ‘viral’ marketing campaigns at Manchester have been very successful.
o Provide a very short lecture (1-2 mins) at the beginning/end of your taught lectures, about almostadoctor.com
o All publicity materials / lecture slides etc will be provided by almostadoctor.com
o You can do a few or as many publicity activities as you wish. Your rewards will be based on a combination of the activities you perform, and the number of users from your university.
§ We may ask you to provide proof of your activities. For example, a quick photo of you giving a little almostadoctor lecture, or a photo of you handing out flyers.
§ Using internet magic we can see how many of our users come from which university, and how many people sign up to the site.
§ The rewards will be based mainly on the number of users you can entice to visit almostadoctor.com. We have approximately 1,000 visitors from Manchester each month, and for example, only about 60 from Liverpool. If you became a rep for Liverpool, we would set you a target of visitors to achieve, e.g. 400 users/month. Once you reach this target you will receive a reward (e.g. a pastest revision book).
· If however, after several months you don’t reach this target, but still increase the number of students from your uni visiting the site, and provide proof that you actively publicised the site, then you will still receive a reward.
